GETTING STARTED

How do I book a session?

You can reach out via our contact form, call us directly, or email us to request an appointment. We respond within 1-2 business days.

What happens in the first session?

he first session is about connection. Well talk about your goals, go over your history, and answer any questions you have. It’s a low-pressure space to see if we’re a good fit.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. We offer a free 15-minute phone consult so you can ask questions and get a feel for the process before committing.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

If you feel safe, seen, and not judged you’re in the right place. But therapy is a relationship. If we’re not the right match, we’ll help you find someone who is.

Do you work with individuals only, or also couples/families?

Our practice focuses on individual, group, couples and family therapy, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and creative modalities.

INSURANCE & PAYMENT

Do you accept insurance?

We accept several major insurance plans. Contact us for current providers. If we’re out-of-network, we can provide a superbill for you to request reimbursement.

What if I don’t have insurance or you’re out-of-network?

No problem. We offer private pay and sliding scale options based on availability.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a detailed receipt with the necessary codes for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. Therapy is a qualified medical expense under most HSA and FSA plans.

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

Yes. We believe therapy should be accessible. Let us know your situation and we’ll explore reduced-rate options together.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee, which is typically the full session fee.

SESSION LOGISTICS

How long are sessions?

Most sessions are 50 minutes. Longer sessions may be arranged as needed.

How often will I come to therapy?

Typically, once per week, though frequency can vary based on your needs and goals.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, we offer secure HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy for clients within our licensed regions.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes, select slots are available outside of standard hours. Contact us for current availability.

Can I text or email you between sessions?

We encourage communication for scheduling or logistical matters only. Therapeutic work is best reserved for session time.

ABOUT THE THERAPIST

What’s your approach or philosophy?

We blend relational therapy, somatic work, mindfulness, art therapy, and social justice-informed care. You are the expert of your own life. We are here to help you explore and reclaim it.

Do you have experience with trauma, anxiety, depression, or identity work?

Yes. We specialize in trauma healing, identity exploration, nervous system regulation, and empowerment through creativity and connection.

Are you LGBTQ+ affirming?

Absolutely. We offer gender-affirming, culturally sensitive, and inclusive therapy for LGBTQ+ clients at every stage of identity development.

LGBTQ+ & GENDER-AFFIRMING CARE

Do you write letters for gender-affirming care?

Yes, we provide letters for HRT and gender-affirming surgeries in accordance with WPATH standards.

Do I have to be ″out″ to start LGBTQ+ therapy?

Nope. Whether you’re questioning, exploring, or living out loud, we support you exactly where you are.

Can I talk about intersectionality and cultural identity in therapy?

Yes. We create a space that honors the full complexity of who you are, including race, class, gender, neurodivergence, and culture.

ART THERAPY & PLAY THERAPY

Do I have to be good at art to do art therapy?

Not at all. This is about expression, not skill. Art therapy helps access feelings and insight that words sometimes can’t reach.

What materials do you use in art therapy?

We offer a range of supplies- paint, collage, sculpture, and mixed media. Virtual clients can use household items or kits.

What is play therapy, and who is it for?

Play therapy is ideal for kids and sometimes teens. Through creative play, we help them express emotions, develop coping skills, and grow.

Can adults benefit from creative therapy?

Absolutely. Art and play open doors to self-awareness, healing, and transformation at every age.

GENERAL THERAPY QUESTIONS

How long does therapy last?

Some people come for a few months. Others stay for years. It depends on your goals, pace, and life circumstances.

What if I don’t know what to talk about?

Totally normal. Well guide the session with gentle questions and tools until it feels more natural for you.

Will therapy make me feel worse before I feel better?

Sometimes. Bringing up hard stuff can be uncomfortable, but it’s often the first step toward healing.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything you share stays private, except in rare cases where safety is at risk. We’ll explain the limits of confidentiality during your first session.

Can I bring someone with me to therapy?

For adult individual therapy, sessions are one-on-one. However, we can discuss including a support person occasionally if it aligns with your goals.

Still have questions? Reach out to connect directly. We’re happy to walk you through it.
